In 1902 Willis Havilland Carrier invented the first Air conditioning system, he went to work on designing a new machine which would control both heat and humidity and create a stable environment for a printing company, which made the process of four color printing possible.

The first air conditioner units were large, very expensive, and quite dangerous because the ammonia that was used as coolant was highly toxic. Shortly after he built the system for the printing plant he designed a system for use in offices, homes, hotels, and hospitals. Many call him the father of air conditioning because his companies became synonymous with air conditioning excellence.
